Public private partnerships are structured relationships between governments (or international agency) and multiple private sector entities to address the environmental issues of freight transport with two or more of the following characteristics:

A number of European member states have already introduced public private programs
providing incentives for the transport sector as well as for shippers to improve
the energy and environmental performance of freight transport. It would be a strong
benefit if a harmonized common program could be established. An international approach
would significantly contribute to realizing economies of scale and to a higher accepting
rate by carriers and shippers.
To reach our goal we are creating a coalition of governments, public authorities
and the industry represented by transport companies, shippers, European and national
associations – all committed to tackling climate change.
